RoHS Printed Circuit Board Compliance

On January 27, 2003 the European Union passed the "Restriction on Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment" (RoHS) which became effective July 1, 2006. Triangle Circuits recognizes that customers require early availability of RoHS compliant printed circuit board products and as such, had set an aggressive schedule for developing and delivering lead free manufacturing capabilities to provide products that meet the directive prior to the 2006 deadline.

The European Union Directives 2002/95/EC places restrictions on the use of hazardous substances including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in electronic equipment and printed circuit boards.

Beginning in 2004, Triangle Circuits established a Steering Committee consisting of members from the necessary functional areas within three operating divisions to begin the formal process of addressing a company-wide response to the RoHS directive.

Over the past year, Triangle Circuits has been pro-actively developing and implementing a lead-free, RoHS (Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances) manufacturing process and working with suppliers regarding lead-free printed circuit board materials. The investment in advancing our environmentally driven manufacturing capability benefits all customers who are facing the challenges of complying with the impending legislation mandated to take effect July 1, 2006 in both Europe and China . Making RoHS compliant printed circuit boards available today allows our customers to move forward on their "green initiative road map" and prepare in advance to align their products and organizations to meet the 2006 deadline.

Today, Triangle Circuits meets RoHS compliance for printed circuit boards and met the compliance requirements prior to July 1, 2006. Triangle Circuits has developed a new line of circuit boards that comply with those restrictions. RoHS compliant printed circuit boards are constructed with an FR-4 base material with appropriate Tg (glass transition temp) rating to meet the higher process temperatures associated with lead-free assembly. A variety of surface finishes: Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold (ENIG), immersion white tin and Entek OSP provide a range in lead free soldering performances, shelf life, cost and long term reliability.

Triangle Circuits' customers can be assured that the removal of these hazardous substances will not reduce performance of their printed circuit board products. Our process has been engineered to meet IPC, UL and UE standards while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.

Triangle Circuits provides these and many other customer-focused programs including: 3-day, 5-day, and production orders with on-time delivery exceeding 98%, no charge tooling for domestic orders, and off-shore business partners for high quality, cost-competitive high volume orders.
